A new member has been appointed to sit on the National Assembly for Wales’s Independent Remuneration Board
Ronnie Alexander is a former Chief Environmental Health Officer for the Welsh Government and is currently employed by both the Consumer Council for Water as a Consumer Advocate and the Food Standards Agency as a member of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee.
Ronnie Alexander said:
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity of appointment to the Remuneration Board and look forward to working closely with other board members, and under the guidance of the Chair, on the determination of pay and allowances for Members of the National Assembly.”

Ronnie Alexander Biography:
Ronnie Alexander left Welsh Government in 2013 where he had been Chief Environmental Health Officer to pursue a variety of other interests. He is currently employed by both the Consumer Council for Water as a Consumer Advocate and the Food Standards Agency as a member of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee which is a Ministerial appointment.
In addition, he has been appointed as Independent Chair of the Standards Committee for Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and is a Board Member for Hafod Care which is part of the Hendre Housing Association.
Ronnie had a civil service career spanning over 20 years in which the issues of climate change and sustainability were particular interests. Prior to that he worked for a number of local authorities in England and Northern Ireland in areas such as strategic support services and enforcement. He has a considerable track record of engaging with the public, professionals and politicians at all levels to influence policy.
