The Remuneration Board has issued its consultation on Contractual changes arising from the Employment Rights Act 2025.
This consultation is about updating the standard contracts for Members’ support staff so that they reflect new employment rights. The Board is asking for views only on the specific contractual changes needed to meet the new statutory requirements.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 sets out new statutory entitlements for employees and new requirements on employers.
The Board sets the standard contract for support staff through the Determination, at section 7.1.1b. The standard contract needs to reflect the new statutory entitlements so that the position is clear and consistent, and so that Members can meet their responsible employer duty under Rule 11 of the Code of Conduct.
The Board is therefore carrying out a limited consultation on specific changes to the Permanent and Fixed Term contracts. These changes are needed to reflect new statutory requirements and must be introduced quickly. The Board is not seeking wider views on the contract or on support staff terms and conditions at this stage.
This consultation does not cover wider changes to the standard contract or to support staff terms and conditions.
Further information about the Determination is available on the Board’s website
